Poem–Pale Curtains

Inspired by ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’ and personal experience

Heavy sheets of shroud, hung down

Thin steel strips, rectangling the squared

Gently, they lean forward, breathing

Suffocating, faces of pale yellow

Buried in soft embraces of blank

Blankets, soothing the injured

Leg lagging, most valid reason

To lie, other than aging

All pale and yellow, with just enough

Tender white light, hypnotizing

Mesmerizing, well-built paradise

For parasites

Find your pesticide
